Lake Park Blvd Capital Improvements and Water Quality Flowway Pre-Design Study
Collier County has contracted Lago Consulting & Services to conduct a pre-design study to identify and evaluate the feasibility of potential stormwater management improvements, conversion of domestic septic systems of wastewater disposal to a municipal sewer, roadway improvements, restoration of historic flowways to the Rookery Bay estuaries and preservation of related natural resources in a residential area along Lake Park Blvd and Auto Ranch Road in East Naples, FL.

Specifics
Lago conducted site visits and utilized land survey to assess drainage features (such as pipes and ditches), and installed water level monitoring stations. An ICPR model was developed for the immediate drainage area. Water levels measured during the 2022 wet season (including the Hurricane Ian event) were used to validate the ICPR model performance and to adjust some of the calibration parameters. The existing condition model served as the baseline for the scenario evaluations.
Model scenarios included the replacement/addition of new drainage pipes and the installation of dropbox structures to maintain and/or enhance wetlands hydroperiods. The Lago team also produced the FLUCCs code map and developed a plan to convert from septic to sewer system, to install portable water lines, and to improve roadways.
An analytical estimate of the pollutant loading rates of the priority pollutants was also performed to assess the improvement in water quality to be derived from the project.
The proposed flowway restoration included a land acquisition plan as well as the regrading of disturbed areas and the removal of exotic vegetation. Two sets of control elevations were recommended along the flowway to enhance wetland functions. A probable cost of approximately $30 Million was estimated for all proposed improvements.
