Everglades National Park Modeling
NPS-SFNRC recognizes the need to protect the Everglades NP to safeguard the health and welfare of the South Florida Region, its ecology, freshwater bodies, estuaries and coasts. With that mission in mind, the continuous evaluation of the impacts that land-use and water resources management actions have on these unique eco-systems becomes vital, particularly to sustainably manage and control the Everglades NP under a proactive instead of a reactive approach.

Specifics
LAGO was tasked to assist the South Florida Natural Resources Center (SFNRC) in the maintenance and development of their hydrologic and hydraulic MIKE SHE models. LAGO assists in reviewing the existing models, implementing new model features and operational scenarios, running models, and evaluating model results for DOI relevant projects.
In addition to modeling support, ENP’s MATLAB scripts to conduct pre- and post-processing are also being reviewed and improved by using a GitHub environment for collaboration.
